After you have entered the BIOS please refer to this link "http://www.peacefire.org/bypass/booting-from-cd-tutorial/"on how to set your cd/dvd rom as first boot device. This may not be the same with your BIOS but it will give a hint on how to set yours. Before you save your BIOS setup you might as will insert your Windows XP installer CD on your cd/dvd rom. After you have saved your BIOS setup your machine will restart and now you are ready to start the installation.
Just follow the on-screen intruction. Now press any key to start with the installation.
Wait for the installation of required drivers to finish.
Press enter to continue.
Press F8 to continue.
If you do not want to make a partition, press enter to continue but if you want to make a partition please follow the on-screen intructions in creating partitions.
This is an example on how to create a partition. After you have entered the size you want for your partition, press enter to create your partition. But in this case the user does not want to make a partition.
After you have created your partition and you still want to create another partition, just follow again the on-screen instructions but if you are already satisfied with your partition. Select the partition you want your windows xp to be installed then press enter.
Select the file system you want for your partition. I recommend you to choose the NTFS file system and not the quick one. Sometimes quick formatting results to error upon copying of files. After you have chosen the file system press enter to continue.
Wait for the formatting to finish.
Wait again for the setup to finish.
After the copying of files your machine now will reboot. Upon rebooting you might see the "Press any key to boot from CD..." don't press any key just leave it.
Wait again for the setup to complete.
Wait again.
If you want to change the language and location click customize but if you don't want to click next.
Type your full name and organization (optional) and click next.
Enter your product key. The product key could be found at the back of the casing of your windows xp installer cd and click next.
Type the name for your computer and administrator password (optional) and click next.
Set the correct date, time and timezone and then click next.
Wait again.
I recommend that you select typical settings.
Just click next.
After the above installations finished your machine will reboot again. On the above image just click OK.
Just click OK.
Just click next.
Choose "Help protect my PC by turning on Automatic Updates now" and then click next.
Just click next.
Just click skip.
Put all the names of users of your machine but if your the only one who will be using then just put your desired name at the box beside the word "Your name". and then click next.
Click finish.
Just choose a user account but if you only entered a single name as a user account you will not see this screen.
Congratulations!!! You we're done with the installation and now you can install the missing drivers and the applications you want. You probably want to install an antivirus first.
Notes: After you have installed your OS successfully the next time you turn on or restart your machine, set your Hard Disk as the first boot device.
